Life lesson from birds

I noticed something the other day – well, it was coming into evening.

Where I live – each morning and evening flocks of corellas and galahs fly in and sit on the powerlines and the ground around them for a while. They make a bit of noise then fly off. I always think it is kind of lovely to see so many birds so regularly. It makes me happy.

But the other day I noticed that most of these birds came in pairs within their flocks. What the birds are actually doing in their twice daily routine is sitting with their partner, preening and touching with them and paying each other attention. Twice a day, every day.

I wondered about that, then looked them up…both corellas and galahs are birds that mate for life….
