Anita Ng-Wong was (I struggle with the past tense of this) a purely remarkable woman to me.
My first impression was formed some 25 years ago. I watched a diminutive Chinese woman crossing a busy street in Central, Hong Kong. She was heavily hunched over, with an obvious movement impediment, but that wasn’t what really drew my attention. What drew my attention was some kind of vigour or enthusiasm animating her movement. The damage she had sustained seemed only to fuel her intent, not dampen it.
I met somebody whose drive to heal and get the most out of life had a formidable power. With a generous, friendly smile and an open demeanour I had the honour of meeting one of the most remarkable and inspirational woman in my professional life.
Adversity can illicit different responses in people. Within Anita – what could only really be appreciated as an absolute mountain of adversity – came face to face with a clarity of intent and persistence that consistently astounded me.
Anita was well aware of the cultural norms that surround a Chinese marriage. She would not, however, subjugate herself to them. She chose a different path, which, I suspect, was less motivated by rebellion than by a sense of alternatives. Anita was a thrifty, resourceful and alternative woman, guided by something pure and clear within.
Anita was a truly free and alternative thinker. She fully embraced life as an experience of ongoing learning. Even just last September she admired and aspired to the way my wife Gina would throw together a meal, praising the ease and efficiency, and thinking about how she could learn this for herself.
And then there was Anita the practitioner. Anita was, amongst her eclectic interests, very attracted to Body Harmony as a bodywork practice. She became very proficient in the role of practitioner. I appreciated the opportunity equally – to be Anita’s practitioner or to be her client. She had developed a style of practicing the work unique to her. She continued to seek to learn. She embodied the work in ways I found very inspirational.
Anita inspired many people. My life was blessed by our paths crossing on many occasions. I feel blessed that Anita knew my family, and she openly and generously interacted with everybody within it.
I feel particularly grateful for every time I stepped out of my way to support Anita. Given that I no longer have that opportunity, I am thankful to have recognised the importance of acting honourably in the moment, as I no longer have that opportunity.
The photo supplied is a picture of Anita after her last session with Gina and me. For me, it speaks to how opportunity and intention coalesce within to produce some remarkable outcomes.
Thank you, Anita.

Anita Ng-Wong was a joy from the first hour I met her back in 1990’s. Her positivity had no limits and her ability to rise above her difficulties and go for what she needed from life was inspiring to me and many others in our community. She became a close friend who inspired me to go for happiness and health because no matter what she always did. Her love begot mine and it was always good to have her in our home for a month each year living and working Body Harmony together. I always felt so loved and touched from her Body Harmony sessions on me and her level of focus was constant during sessions. She would wander the garden each morning collecting bits and pieces we could add to breakfast or lunch. Her excitement was contagious. Thank you, Anita you were, and still are a shining light to me. My last memories of her will be watching her jump on the rebounder on the veranda with a big smile on her face and then jog back to her room just for the love of movement.

Such an ageless loving gentle strong spirit .. with top shelf clarity! Boy did she go to heart of things when assisting exploring one’s intention. I bet she went into Body Harmony Zone on her departure. Love to her family & all of us .. how she will be missed (& celebrated at future retreats).
