Over the course of its development as a healing modality, Body Harmony has been informed by a multitude of somatic practices. The founder, Dr Don McFarland incorporated the work of Moshe Feldenkrais and Emilie Conrad (amongst others). In our current teaching body, Meredith Dolan has incorporated the work of Peter Levine’s Somatic Experiencing and Hanna Somatics. Movement therapeutics have allowed developing practitioners within the Body Harmony education process to become ever more resourced in understanding viscerally the process of embodiment and embodied learning. This in turn helps to create a more refined, perceptive touch resourced through a more intimate connection to the senses.
The Body Harmony Association is proudly an Associate Member Organization of ISMETA. ISMETA has a thirty plus year history in advocacy and advancing the standing of somatically based practices and practitioners around the world. Body Harmony Association members are encouraged to engage in the resources, events and educational opportunities offered through ISMETA’s website.
